Day 3: Ecclesiastes 11

Eccl 11:1-6 Wise practices in light of the unpredictability of life (v2) we are told about 'investing' and diversifying resources to protect against unforeseen circumstances due to the unpredictability of life (v4a) too might time spent trying to 'read the skies' will only distract us from the task at hand (v4b) if we wait for the perfect time to begin something we will now sow nor reap Eccl 11:7-12 (v9) Proper enjoyment in life is only possible within the boundaries established by God. He will evaluate and judge our deeds according to His righteous judgement (v10) We shouldn't dwell on our pains and woes excessively Application Enjoyment in life is within the boundaries of God, but I can never earn my salvation. My deeds will indeed be judged, but because of Christ, he has taken up all my sins already. Day 2: Genesis 9-14

Gen 12:11-13 Abram doesn't trust the Lord will protect him so he devises his own plan. But when this plan backfires, it is it the Lord who saves him Gen 14:19-20 Although God has created the whole earth to be his temple, Genesis reveals that God's ownership of the earth is rejected by those who do not obey him However Melchizedek shows his acknowledgement of God's glory by offering Abram a tenth of everything Gen 14:22-24 Abram rejects the offer by the king of Sodom and affirms that he is depending on God and not on human king's or their gifts to become a great nation

Day 1: Genesis 1-8

Genesis 1: "And God saw that it was good." - We are continuously shown that what God creates is good, because he is a perfect God So God created man in his own image. In the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. We are created in the image of God. Before the fall, we were perfect human beings - something that sin has caused us not to be Genesis 2: Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh The ideal for marriage And the man and his wife were both naked and were not ashamed.
