James 5:6-13

Day 27

Read:
  • Be patient, therefore, brothers, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient about it, until it receives the early and the late (v7)
  • Behold, we consider those blessed who remained steadfast. You have heard of the steadfastness of Job, and you have seen the purpose of the Lord, how the Lord is compassionate and merciful (v11)
  • But above all, my brothers, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or by any other oath, but let your "yes" be yes and your "no" be no, so that you may not fall under condemnation. (v12)
Reflect:
  • We to be like a farmer waiting for the harvest of his fruit and crops - patient
  • James talks about those who remain steadfast and patient are those who are blessed
  • We are reminded that our God is a God who is merciful and compassionate
  • James tells us that God always has a purpose for us
  • Above all however, James tells us that we should not 'swear' or take an oath but rather simply just say yes or no to things
Application:
  • Be patient in the Lord's work and do not grumble while we do it
  • Remember that God always has a plan for he is merciful and compasisonate
