James 2:14-26

Day 13
What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. But someone will say, "You have faith and I have works." Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. You see that faith was active along with his works, and faith was completed by his works; For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, so also faith apart from works is dead.
James 2:14‭, ‬17‭-‬18‭, ‬22‭, ‬26

Reflect
  • Faith without works is not a saving faith
  • However, this is not a moralistic way of saying that works will grant you into heaven
  • James is saying that works is a sign that you have faith (v17)
  • James reminds us that a life or "a body" that is without the spirit is dead and parallels this with a faith that is apart from works
  • Our faith should produce a response that results in faith
Prayer:
  1. Create in me a heart that responds to your gospel in humble obedience and servitude
  2. Remind me daily that it is a privilege to be able to know you, to learn about you and to worship you
